I had far too many people breed brothers to their way too young to breed sisters in 2024 and 2025. If I trust you, I will let you band them yourself, but if he is leaving with a doe, I may band before leaving no matter how old he is. Diet is the most important factor in preventing urinary calculi (stones blocking the flow of urine out the urethra). There is research to suggest banding at an older age may lessen chances of urinary calculi and other research that suggests it is more related to diet and banding at an older age may cause complications in itself. If you insist on banding at a later age, you can bring him back to me for banding at 8-12 weeks. I do this more as a favor to their new owners, and I am not responsible for any complications that may happen. Because of the type of bander I use, I will likely not band beyond 14 weeks. I want buyers to understand I am not responsible for unwanted goat pregnancy from delayed banding. The health of the doe and not creating undesirable genetics is most important to me. Urinary calculi is from the diet, but breeding is more of a guarantee. If they leave in tact, I take no responsibility for your failure to band promptly or separate does and bucks. Bucklings can breed at 5-6 weeks old. I have seen doelings cycle at 6 weeks old. People keep ignoring me about this. I hear all kinds of excuses.
