I decided to keep Ricky as a first generation Mini Nubian herd sire. His dam, Reba, will not be bred for Mini Nubians again, so it is a good choice. She has a very well attached udder, made a half gallon once a day milking as a first freshener, kidded quad does for me as a second freshener, and has a higher than average breed butterfat. Reba’s sire a champion buck and has some great milk lines behind her. I am so excited to start my own line of Mini Nubians! As a adult (need new pics), Ricky has a mild Roman nose, somewhere between airplane and 3/4 drop ears, an incredibly wide and deep body, wrinkly and soft dairy skin, a nice topline and rump angle, and great brisket extension. He is a powerful looking buck, but he is very sweet. I am really happy with him!

RCornerranch Poet

Poe is son of RCornerRanch Enchanted Fable and the late LJ Ledford SMM Barley. Barley had improved udder arch, udder height, and attachment over her dam Flora. At only a few weeks fresh, her udder already looked lovely. It would have matured beautifully. I truly believe she was going to have a fabulous udder, but I lost her a month after kidding. I chalk it up to one of those freak things that can happen on a far. Poe’s sire, Fable, has consistently produced long, level, smooth kids with proper front leg placement, brisket extension, long dairy necks, and rear leg angulation. Poe has grey eyes, a slightly Roman nose and his ears are somewhere between 3/4 drop and airplane. We’ll see as he matures. My other buck, Ricky, above currently has 3/4 drop ears as a mature adult and his nose became more Roman shaped as he matured. Pretty good start for my line of Minis! I believe Poe will be a smaller, more dairy buck. I believe these boys will complement each other’s kids nicely. Poe is a first generation Mini Nubian.
